共同体 コミュニティー
1. コミュニティー（英：community）：英語で、「共同体」を意味する語に由来。同じ地域に居住して利害を共にし、政治・経済・風俗などにおいて深く結びついている社会のこと（地域社会）。日本語の「共同体」はこれの訳語。主に市町村などの地域社会を意味するが、転じて国際的な連帯やインターネット上の集まりなども「共同体」あるいは「コミュニティ」と呼ばれる（例：欧州共同体、南米共同体、アフリカ連合、米州機構、東アジア共同体（計画中）、国際航空通信共同体）。地方自治体、地域を越えた共同体と区別して、地域住民の相互性を強調する場合、地域コミュニティということも多い。伝統的な村落共同体は、農村、漁村、山村を念頭においていたが、地域コミュニティには、都市における共同体も含まれる。この点で、現在では、「共同体」の語よりも「地域コミュニティ」の語が広く使用されるようになりつつある。
